JOAN PATRICIA SCHIHL

Joan Patricia Schihl 83 of Harrison, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 10, 2024 at Gladwin Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center-Gladwin. Joan was born March 17, 1941 in Roseville, Michigan the daughter of Joseph Blight and Mary (Clements) Blight. Joan was united in marriage to Mr. Jerome Joseph Schihl on December 20, 1958 in Roseville.

                Mrs. Schihl had resided in Harrison since 2004, moving from Washington, Michigan where she had resided for over twenty-five years. Joan retired from the Kmart Corporation after twenty-five years as a supervisor. She was a member of Springwood Lakes Resort Association for many years. Joan enjoyed playing Bingo, taking bus trips to various casinos throughout Michigan with her husband and friends and visiting garage sales, in hopes of finding a hidden gem or a good buy.

                Surviving Joan is her husband of sixty-five years, Mr. Jerome Joseph Schihl of Harrison, her four children; Patricia Murdick of Plainwell, Michigan, Sharon Schihl of Almont, Michigan, Christine Tangney and husband Brian of Millington, Michigan and Jerome Joseph Schihl Jr. and wife Donna of Sterling Heights, Michigan, six grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, one sister, Barb Cales of Houston, Texas, plus numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Mrs. Schihl was preceded in death by her parents, one son-in-law, Don Murdick and three brothers; Melvin Blight, William Blight and David Blight.
