Richard “Rich” Edward Gostomski age 82 of Harrison passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at North Woods Nursing Center-Farwell. Richard was born January 30, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan the son of Jean H. (Gluski) Gostomski and Edward M. Gostomski.
Richard enlisted in the United States Air Force and honorably served his country. Soon after Richard returned home from the Air Force, he began his career with Ford Motor Company and worked over thirty years on the assembly line.
Richard had resided in Harrison since 1995, moving from Livonia, Michigan. Richard was a devote catholic and gave much of his time to his church. He was member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Harrison, a 4 th Degree Knight with K of C Assembly 5280 as well as a 3rd Degree Knight with Council 7571. He served as past knight and treasurer, as well as unselfishly giving many hours volunteering for the Tootsie Roll Drive, summer hotdog fundraisers and yearly casino trips. Richard volunteered at local bingos as a “caller”. He loved cooking and feeding people as well as volunteered his time with monthly food distribution.
Mr. Gostomski is survived by his three children; Ricky Gostomski of Florida, Tammy Austin of Florida and Michael Gostomski of Alabama, several grandchildren, one sister, Judy Bur of Dearborn, Michigan, two brothers; Gary Gostomski of Westland, Michigan and Edward Gostomski and wife Kathy of Howell, Michigan, sister-in-law, Madelyn Gostomski of Fenton, Michigan, plus many extended family and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, one son, David M. Gostomski, one brother, Robert Gostomski, brother-in-law, Robert Bur and companion and close friend, Diana Meloche.
A Funeral Mass for Rich will be held at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, 310 S. Broad Street, Harrison on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Father J. Marcel Portelli presiding. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Luncheon immediately following at Clark-Stocking Funeral Chapel. Rite of burial will be held in the spring of 2026 at St. Athanasius Catholic Cemetery, Harrison.
