Charles Edward Chapman passed away peacefully at Northwood Nursing home on March 30, 2026. He was born in Berkley, Michigan to Harold and Mildred Chapman on December 9, 1934.
He married Martha Goeman on June 4, 1955, and they were married for 51 years at the time of Martha’s passing in 2006. He worked in the auto industry prior to moving to Harrison in 1971 buying Harrison Transmission which later became Maxi Muffler.
Chuck cared deeply about the community and contributed his time and talents to many organizations. He was a member of Kiwanis, past president of HAEDCO and past president of the Harrison Chamber of Commerce, a volunteer firefighter for Harrison Community Fire Department, worked for the Hayes Township Police and United Rescue, and was a member of the Harrison Leota Snowmobile Club. He volunteered as Santa for many Christmas functions in Clare County.
He retired from Maxi Muffler in 2001.
He is survived by his wife of sixteen years, Ellen and his children; Steve (Rinda), Doug (Sheila), Diana (Fred), Jeff (Lynn); his siblings; Ron (Linda), Butch (Trudy) and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Martha and his brothers Glenn, Art and Paul and his sisters Jean and Barb.
A celebration of life will be held in June.
