MT. PLEASANT, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is finishing work on the first year of the $27 million improvement project on M-20 and US-10 Business Route (BR) in the city of Midland.
Starting the morning of Monday, Nov. 9, westbound US-10 BR will be reopened to traffic. During phase one of the project, westbound US-10 BR (Patrick Road)/Indian Street was closed for rebuilding. Eastbound US-10 BR (Lyon Road)/Buttles Street was converted to accommodate two-way traffic.
Once the westbound roadway is reopened, eastbound US-10 BR/Buttles Street will return to its original configuration with eastbound-only traffic. A double left-lane closure will be in place on Buttles Street to allow crews to complete pavement marking work until Thursday, Nov. 12.
The reopening schedule is weather dependent.
When work resumes in 2027 and eastbound US-10 BR/Buttles Street is rebuilt, two-way traffic will be diverted to westbound US-10 BR/Indian Street.
Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 228 jobs.
This long-term investment will provide a smoother ride and extend the service life of the roadway.
