Joseph Francis Coughlin, age 82, of Harrison, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2024. Joe was a quiet man, a family man known for his gentle and loving heart.

Joe was the eldest of seven siblings. After their father died, it was Joe and his brothers who kept the family and farm intact. While attending Beal City High School, Joe excelled in football, basketball, and track. After marrying his high school sweetheart, Carol, they raised four sons while owning and operating the Country Meat Market in Harrison.

Later in life, 'Smoker Joe', as he was affectionately known, pursued one of his passions in driving large trucks for a pipeline company. Joe proudly worked alongside his brother, Ron, for many years.

As a father, Joe was so proud to see his boys raise their families. But even more so, "Papa Joe" was most proud of his 8 grandkids' work ethic and success in their careers and education. He enjoyed being a fan in the stands during their school sport activities, watching football at home and looked forward to Happy Hour with his brothers and sons.

Joseph is survived by his sons Lee (Debbie), David (Donita) and Brian (Dionne); grandchildren Elle, Erin, Connor, Trevor, Carly, Nicole, Bret and Joel; siblings: Ron (Connie), Bill (Sue), Tom (Micky), Dianne (Joe) Albaugh, and Mary Jane (Tony) Pavlicek.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Theresa; brother, Patrick; former wife, Carol; and his son, Robert.

Funeral visitation for Joseph will take place Friday, September 20, 2024, from 11:00 am -1:00 pm. at Clark-Stocking Funeral Chapel. Memorial service will begin at 1pm. Celebration of Joe's life will continue following the service at Hatton Hills Hunt Club located at 2945 East Hatton Road Harrison, MI 48625.
