Winterfield Twp Man Arrested on Multiple Charges

On Thursday, October 03, 2024, at 5:37 p.m., Deputies with the Clare County Sheriff Officer were dispatched to an address on Clam River Rd in Winterfield Township, Clare County Michigan for an assault involving a firearm that had occurred. During the investigation, Deputies determined 41-year-old Timothy Vandenboss from McBain had been arguing with an acquaintance, a woman from Marion. As the argument escalated, Timothy pointed a revolver at the woman, who was able to get away from him.

As the incident progressed, Timothy physically attacked the woman who was able to free herself. As the woman was leaving the residence, Timothy armed himself with a shotgun and shot at the female's vehicle twice striking the passenger side of the vehicle.

Prior to the Sheriff’s Department arriving on scene, Timothy fled the area in his vehicle. Deputies were notified of a crashed vehicle in the area, which turned out to be Timothy's, who again fled the scene.

Timothy was located a short time later and was taken into custody. Timothy was charged with the following charges:

  1. Assault with the intent to do great bodily harm less than murder
  2. Assault with a dangerous weapon
  3. Weapons-Felony Firearm-possession of firearm while in the commission of a felony
  4. Weapons-careless discharge of a firearm
  5. Firearms-discharge while armed without malice and injury
  6. Domestic Violence
  7. Operate a motor vehicle while intoxicated
  8. Firearms-possession while intoxicated
  9. Fail to stop at the scene of a traffic crash.

Timothy was held in the Clare County Jail and was arraigned in the 80th District Court of Clare County on the above charges on October 8. His bond was set at $75,000.
