On Saturday, March 15, the Harrison VFW Post 1075 hosted a Fire and Bike Safety event for the community. Firemen demonstrated how to use a fire extinguisher and then allowed volunteers to try it for themselves.
Hotdogs, chips, sodas and snow cones were given to all who attended, and raffle tickets were given to local youths ages 18 and younger, as they entered the post.
Four bikes donated by Target, and a $50 gift certificate donated by Dicks Sporting Goods were raffled off to lucky participants.
Helmets, air pumps, bike locks, wheel light kits and various bike safety gear were given out, including books on bicycle safety. Participants were also provided with fire safety books, handouts, and fire prevention blankets.
The VFW Post Riders Group sponsored the event, while the Harrison Community Fire Department provided the fire safety training/demonstration and The Riders Group conducted the bike safety training.
