The high school bowling season officially came to a close on Saturday, as the individual state championships were held. Locally, three bowlers qualified for the tournament, allowing them to take part in the action.
Harrison had Caitlin Kirby compete on the girls’ side in Division 4, at Skore Lanes in Taylor, and she did quite well, taking 21st overall out of 56 bowlers. She had a total pinfall of 951 in a six-game series, getting scores of 157, 131, 146, 194, 169 and 154.
Also, for the Hornets, Skylar Chaskey finished 56th with a series of 845. His scores were 149, 170, 153, 137, 116 and 120.
“Caitlin was only 17 pins out of bracket play,” head coach Dan Durga said. “We look forward to building for next year. They worked hard to get where they did. It was a great accomplishment for both of them.”
Clare also had a state qualifier in the Division 3 finals, held at Jax 60 in Jackson. Jack Meissner took 49th, with a six-game series of 986. His scores were 174, 199, 157, 160, 127 and 169.
