The City of Harrison has named Chris Damvelt, former fire chief of Harrison Community Fire Department as the 2026 Grand Marshal of the Fourth of July parade. Damvelt retired in December as fire chief but remains as a volunteer fire fighter. Damvelt has served the City of Harrison in various capacities since 1985, beginning as a firefighter. He served on Harrison City Council from November 1998 through November 2014 and was named fire chief in 2016. Under his leadership, the fire department roster grew and strengthened, morale improved, and the result was a more capable and motivated firefighting team that consistently served the community with professionalism.
Damvelt’ s commitment to the community will be honored this year as he heads up the Fourth of July parade which will begin at noon on Saturday, July 4. The parade route runs from the Clare County Fairground to First Street to Main Street and back to the fairground via Westlawn Street.
