Posted

State Rep. Tom Kunse, R-Clare, announced the winners to the art competition for the 100th district. The theme of the art competition was “Celebrating Rural Michigan through Art.”

"I am proud to recognize Carson Lockwood, a 14-year-old ninth-grade homeschooler, as the high school winner, and Emily Daniels, a talented sixth grader at Harrison Middle School, as the middle/elementary school winner," Kunse said. "Both of these young artists have captured the essence of rural Michigan in unique and inspiring ways. A big thank you goes to the students and staff at Harrison Middle School, Farwell High, Clare Primary, and GT Norman Elementary in Reed City for their support and participation. In recognition of their involvement, I’m pleased to announce that I will be donating $250 to each of these schools for art supplies.

"It’s awesome to see such creativity and enthusiasm from our students," Kunse said. "Thank you to everyone who took part and keep exercising your artistic talents. It's an honor to have these pieces on display in my office as a representation of the 100th district in Lansing.”
