MyMichigan Health Investigating Cybersecurity Allegations

Posted

MIDLAND, Mich. — MyMichigan Health is investigating claims of data theft made by a group identifying itself as MetaEncryptor.

MyMichigan Health takes all cybersecurity concerns seriously and immediately initiated an investigation into the allegations. The organization has engaged Mandiant, an independent cybersecurity incident response firm, and is working with law enforcement to evaluate the claims.

“Protecting the privacy and security of our patients, employees and communities remains a top priority,” said Pankaj Jandwani, M.D., system vice president and chief information officer, MyMichigan Health. “We take these allegations seriously and will continue to work with our cybersecurity specialists and law enforcement to evaluate the information available to us.”

To date, the investigation has found no evidence of unauthorized access to MyMichigan Health’s systems or compromise of patient information. The group making the allegations has not provided supporting evidence, including sample files, to substantiate its claims.

The investigation remains ongoing, and MyMichigan Health will continue to evaluate any credible new information.
