Clare County Sheriff Dept Press Release
On January 01, 2025, at 10:14 p.m, a Harrison woman came to the Clare County Sheriff Department to report a larceny. The women had listed a vehicle for sale on Facebook Market place and was contacted by a male. She made arrangements for the male to purchase the car from her from her residence in Harrison. The male provided the victim with $3,600 in one hundred dollar bills before taking possession of the vehicle. A short time after the male left with the vehicle, the victim took the bills to a gas station where a counterfeit pen was used on the bills. Several of the bills that were tested showed the bills were fake. Once the victim learned the bills were fake, she attempted to contact the male, however the account of this male had been deactivated.
Upon report of this incident to the Sheriff’s Department, the rest of the bills were checked and it was determined all the bills were fake. The Sheriff’s Deputy put out a broadcast for other law enforcement agencies in the state to attempt to locate the vehicle, and listed the vehicle as stolen.
On January 02, 2025 the Clare County Sheriff Department was contacted by an officer from the Three River’s Police Department located in St. Joseph county Michigan, who had stopped the stolen vehicle. During the stop, it was determined the male passenger, Victor Julio Telleria-Sanchez was the male who had used the fake currency to purchase the vehicle in Harrison. It was further determined Victor was a non-US citizen who was in the United States illegally. Victor was placed under arrest by the Three River’s Police Department and held in the St. Joseph County Jail, where until he was picked up by the Clare County Sheriff Department and brought back to the Clare County Jail.
Victor Julio Telleria-Sanchez was charged with one count Larceny by False Pretenses over $1,000 and under $20,000, a felony punishable by imprisonment of not more than 15 years as well as one count of Uttering and Publishing Counterfeit Notes, a felony punishable by imprisonment of not more than 5 years. Victor was arraigned in the 80th District Court Clare County on January 03, 2025. His bond was set at $50,000 cash or surety, 10%. A detainer has been placed on Victor from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
