It was a winning road trip for the Harrison boys basketball team on Thursday. The Hornets traveled to Meridian, where they were able to outlast the Mustangs 48-40 for a hard-earned Jack Pine Conference victory.

The Mustangs started the game in front and held a 10-6 advantage after the first quarter. Harrison dominated the second quarter though, outscoring Meridian 19-4 in the frame to take a 25-14 lead into the half. The half ended with the play of the night, when Kelton Carlstrom launched a shot from well behind the half court line, swishing the ball home as the buzzer sounded.

Harrison increased its advantage some in the third, taking a 37-25 advantage into the fourth. Meridian was able to trim the Hornet lead to as little as three points in the final minutes, but Harrison closed out the game with some steady free throw shooting.

Matt Latunski finished the game with 20 points, including some key shots from the line late; and he also had five steals and four assists. Jayden Bobzien had six points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals, Gavin VanBuren added six points, he tracked down five rebounds and passed to get three assists, and Peyton Gallo also had six points to go along with five boards and one assist. Collin Dennis chipped in with five points and four rebounds, Carlstrom finished with three points, one board and one steal and Alex Erskine managed two points and one rebound.

Harrison (6-9 overall, 5-7 JPC) was at home against Bullock Creek on Tuesday, they host St. Louis today (Thursday) and they head for Farwell on Tuesday.
