John Alden Chapter NSDAR to Host American Revolution Experience Exhibit at Midland Mall

Posted

The John Alden Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), is excited to announce the Dec. 21 opening of the American Revolution Experience at the Midland Mall. The innovative pop-up exhibition includes display panels and interactive digital kiosks that use storytelling, illustration, technology and unique artifacts and primary accounts to connect modern audiences with the people and places that shaped the birth of our nation. Created through a collaboration between the American Battlefield Trust and the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, the exhibit is also made possible by generous matching funds from the National Park Service’s American Battlefield Protection Program battlefield interpretation grants. The Chapter is partnering with the Midland Mall, Midland Center for the Arts and the Midland County Historical Society to bring this interactive exhibit to our community.

This free exhibit opens Sunday, Dec. 21 and closes on Jan. 3. It will be closed on Christmas Day. It will be located at the Midland Mall next to the Hallmark Store. An opening ceremony will be held at 11 p.m. Dec. 21 at the mall stage.

The American Revolution Experience. launched online in 2022 as an award-winning website. It rose to rapid acclaim and received a Bronze Award in the Education, Art, & Culture division of the second annual Anthem Awards, an initiative of the Webby Awards celebrating purpose and mission-driven work. It was also a finalist in the “People’s Choice” category of the Webbys themselves.

The exhibit focuses on the people of the American Revolution instead of the battles.  It invites the visitor to consider the choices faced by members of the revolutionary generation as tensions mounted in the 1770s. The exhibit presents diverse viewpoints and experiences from both the Patriots and Loyalists, men and women, Black and Native populations, and international allies. Topics include Choosing Sides, Freedom or Slavery, On the Front Lines, Help from Abroad and Post-war Lives & Legacies.

The public is invited to drop in and explore the exhibit and have an American Revolution Experience. It is for all ages. A great activity over the holidays.
