Horse Progress Days Held in Clare

Horse Progress Days will be held in Clare on Friday and Saturday, July 4 and 5 at Alvin and Rosa Yoder’s farm at 7656 E. Colonville Road. Thousands of people, primarily Amish, are expected to attend although the event is open to everyone. The aim of Horse Progress Days is to demonstrate the best practices and innovations for family farms and homesteads.

The events and education aren’t just about horses, but programming that addresses greenhouse, field produce, beekeeping, logging, and more. Seminars and demonstrations will be held on all aspects of homemaking and homesteading. The Homemaker’s Tent offers workshops on cheese making, soap making, and natural remedies for sickness and first aid.

Stutzman’s Butchering of Clare will be holding demonstrations and sharing recipes. They will be demonstrating the best way to butcher various cuts of meat.

Back to horses, demonstrations of new horse drawn equipment in real field conditions with real horses are plentiful. The mission of Horse Progress Days is to “provide education and resources for small scale sustainable agriculture and demonstrate horse drawn equipment innovations.”
