HARRISON – The April 14 Hayes Township General Board meeting was pleasantly interrupted by the arrival of a work crew as it was about to start laying in the hardscape surrounding the new Hayes Municipal Complex Playground.

This is one of the four Spark Grant projects awarded in Clare County in the summer of 2024. Awardees and their projects included: City of Harrison: $757,500 for Harrison City Park Improvements; Hamilton Township: $906,200 for Hamilton Township Park: New Construction; Hayes Township: $722,500 for its Hayes Township Recreation Complex; and Lincoln Township: $772,700 for its project, Find Your Joy at Shingle Lake Park.

The first work to be completed was in Lincoln Township, the second will be the playground work done at Harrison City Park, and the one at the Hamilton Township will see its grand opening June 6.

The Hayes Township work is well underway and will feature areas to accommodate not only a variety of features but also the capabilities of different age groups.

The playground equipment installation has proceeded and it won’t be long before hollering, skinned knees and squeals of delight will ensue. Check out the adjacent design graphics and current photos to get an idea of just how diverse this offering is. Then get ready, because the line to the slide and swings will be a long one!
