Harrison track tops St. Louis, falls to Meridian in JPC action

The Harrison track and field teams were at their home venue for a Jack Pine Conference double dual on Wednesday, April 15. The Hornets had both teams’ take down St. Louis, but both sides came up a little short with Meridian.

Starting with highlights for the boys, Adin Brewer was second in the 100 and Clayten Austin was third, with times of 11.97 and 12.14. Jayden Bobzien and Austin were second and third in the 200 with times of 24.07 and 25.23 and Bobzien and Collin Dennis were second and third in the 400 with times of 52.30 and 55.82. In the 800, Dennis was third at 2:13, Logan Young was second in the 1600 at 4:57 and he won the 3200 with clocked time of 10:49.

Tyler Quitliano took second in both hurdle events, with a 20.24 in the 110 and a 46.25 in the 300. They also had wins in the 4x100, 4x400 and 4x800 relays.

Hunter LaFeve was fourth in both throwing events, Bobzien was third in the high jump at 5’10”, Jansen was fourth in the pule vault and Jansen was able to take second in the long jump with a distance of 17’11.5”.

For the girls Samantha Hopkins was able to win both the 100 (13.35) and 200 (27.87), while Melissa Hopkins was second in the 100 and Madison Wheaton was third in the 200. Wheaton was also second in the 400 with a 1:04.35, Madalynne Gorss was fifth in the 800, Caitlin Kirby was also fifth in the 1600 and Layla Rock had a fifth-place finish in the 3200.

Lydia Kendall was able to come in second in both hurdle events, with times of 19.10 and 54.12. Harrison also had wins in the 4x100 and 4x200 relays.

Dyanne Andrews had a second place finish in the shot put with a 32’6.5”, Alivia Winters was second in the discus with a heave of 104’9”, Kirby was second din the high jump at 4’6”, Gross placed third in the pole vault and S. Hopkins added another win in the long jump, getting a distance of 16’11.75”.

Harrison was at Clare on Wednesday for a Jack Pine meet; they’ll head to Onekama on Friday and they’ll be at another league meet at Beaverton on Wednesday.
