The Harrison track and field teams have been practicing for over a month, and they’ve already gotten a few meets in. Things have been going well for the Hornets so far, as they look accomplish plenty of individual and team goals this spring.

The Lady Hornets, who will be coached by Brandi Hajek, had six state qualifiers last year.

On the team this year will be Sabree Parks, Sam Hopkins, Aaliyah Cox, Alexis Brooks, Alivia Winters, Allison Gross, Andreanna Maran, Ashlyn Winters, Caitlin Kirby, Chloe Carrell, Dayna Woodworth, Dyanne Andrews, Layla Rock, Lydia Kendall, Madalynne Gross, Madison Wheaton, Melissa Hopkins, and Miley Kenny.

“They are extremely competitive and have shown that they will sacrifice comfortability and do what it takes to earn points for the team,” Hajek said of the team. “We started slow due to weather so conditioning was a priority. Our coaching staff is technique centered and those gains are showing already this season. Our short-term goal is to continue to make waves in the Jack Pine conference and represent ourselves and the city of Harrison in a positive and uplifting manner. Long term goal is to qualify as many Lady Hornets as we can for the state championship at the end of May.”
For Hajek, she believes that this group of athletes can accomplish some really good things this spring.

“I hope that the girls see the results of their hard work and gain confidence in their abilities, that I have,” she said. “We are not just building athletes; we are helping to instill values that are not learned in the classroom. I am so proud of our Lady Hornets, and I am honored to coach this group of strong young women.”

As for the boys’ team, they’ll have Wesley Buckingham, Adin Brewer, Alexandre Jansen, Anthony Davis, Calvin Scoby, Cameron Brewer, Cebastian Neal, Charles Parrent, Chase Dhaene, Chase O’Neil, Clayten Austin, Collin Dennis, Collin Maran, Cory Westbrook, Daniel Stewart, David Nellis, Dayveon Vernon, Deon Simmons, Dominique Stump, Eli Coffin, Eli Wing, Ely Martin, Errol Mashue, Gavin Jansen, Hunter LaFeve, Ian Scott, James Samples, Raymond Cosgrove, Pheniox Elliott, Myles Henry, Michael Ware, Mason Root-Pyle, Mac Corbin, Lucas Dodd, Logan Young, Leandre Watkins, Konnor Haske, Kaleb Thomas, Kaiden Eichorn, Jayden Parks and Jayden Bobzien.

The boys’ team will be coached by Luke Prielipp.
