A clean sweep for the program. A record for Alivia Winters in the discus. The Hornets had a great time at Farwell on Wednesday, April 8, as both the boys and girls teams swept Farwell and Pinconning in a Jack Pine Conference double dual.
Top finishers for the Harrison boys included Aden Brewer and Clayten Austin coming in second and third in the 100-meter dash, Bobzien was second in the 200 and he won the 400 with a 54.73. Ray Cossgrove was a winner in the 800 at 2:21, Logan Young won the 1600 at 5:10 and he also won the 3200 with a time of 11:27. Mason Root-Pyle was second in the 110 hurdles, Deon Simmons was second in the 300 hurdles and the Hornets also won the 4x400 relay behind the efforts of Daniel Stewart, Bobzien, Simmons and Cosgrove.
Hunter LaFave won the discus (104’9.25”) and he was second in the shot put (32’5.5”) and Bobzien won the high jump at 5’4”. Gavin Jansen took first place points in the pole vault at 10’0” and Alexandre Jansen won the pole vault at 16’6”.
For the Lady Hornets, Sam Hopkins won the 100-meter dash (13.39) and Madison Wheaton took first in the 200 and 400 with times of 30.64 and 1:10.17. Madalynne Gross was second in the 800 and Caitlyn Kirby was second in the 1600, on a run of 7:03. Layla Rock was also second in the 1600 and Rock won the 3200 with a 15:13. Lydia Kendall won both hurdle events, getting a 20.04 in the 100 and a 59.10 in the 300. They also had a win in the 4x100 relay, with runs by Kendall, Melissa Hopkins, Alivia Winters and S. Hopkins.
Winters took fifth in the long jump and she set the new school record in the discus, winning that event with an impressive throw of 120’8.75”. Ashlynn Winters was also second in discus. Caitlin Kirby was a winner in the high jump at 4’0”, Madalynne Gross was a winner in the pole vault at 7’0” and S. Hopkins won the long jump with a distance of 15’ 11.5”.
For the Farwell boys, Mason Esterline took the top spot in the 100 (11.89) and 200 (24.76) and Zane Hanna was second in the 400. Rylee Sprague finished second in the 800 and 1600 and Keagan Terrian was second in the 3200. Tristan Szott swept the hurdle events, with an 18.65 in the 110 and a 49.05 in the 300. They also won the 4x100, 4x200 and 4x800 relays.
Hunter Miller was third in the discus, Dekklyn Hect was fourth in the shot put and Fabian Holtman was fifth in the long jump.
