Posted

On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at approximately 5:14 p.m., Clare County Central Dispatch received a request from Midland County Central Dispatch to be on the lookout for a white 2001 GMC pickup truck believed to be involved in a breaking and entering incident that had occurred in Midland County.

The driver of the vehicle was later identified as Dylan Ray Bannister, 27, of Harrison. Information received indicated that Bannister had fled the scene of the breaking and entering and was believed to be traveling toward Harrison.

A Clare County Sheriff's Office deputy located the suspect vehicle on Old State Avenue near Mannsiding Road in Lincoln Township. When the deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop, Bannister accelerated and attempted to flee. Deputies pursued the vehicle, which ultimately traveled to Bannister's residence, where he was taken into custody without further incident.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies recovered a Smith & Wesson .40-caliber handgun.

Bannister was lodged at the Clare County Jail and charged with the following offenses:

  • Fleeing and Eluding a Police Officer – Third Degree
  • Felony Firearm
  • Carrying a Concealed Weapon
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person

Bannister was arraigned in the 80th District Court in Clare County. Bond was set at $40,000/10%.

At the request of the Midland County Sheriff's Office, Clare County deputies also interviewed Bannister regarding the original breaking and entering investigation. That investigation remains under the jurisdiction of Midland County authorities.
