Harrison girls wrap up regular season with win over McBain NMC

Harrison finished up regular season girls’ basketball action on Thursday. The Lady Hornets were hosting McBain Northern Michigan Christian Academy, and they were able to win on senior night, 64-51.

Janessa O’Day led the team with 15 points, eight rebounds, seven steals and five assists, Caitlin Kirby had 13 points, six rebounds, six steals and five assists, Alivia Winters also had 13 points and Lydia Kendall had eight points, six rebounds, six steals and five assists. Dakota O’Day chipped in with six points and five steals, Hayley Neff netted four points, Gracie Burkhard added three points and four rebounds and Ashlynn Winters chipped in with two points.

Harrison also lost its Jack Pine Conference crossover at Bullock Creek on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 54-44.

Leading the way in this one was D. O’Day with 12 points and four rebounds, Kendall and Burkhard had 10 points apiece, with Burkhard getting five rebounds, Kirby had seven points, five steals and she pulled down four boards and Winters added four points. J. O’Day had one point and three rebounds and Neff tracked down two rebounds.

“I was very proud of the girls this week,” head coach Ryan Carlstrom said. “I thought we played really well and gave 110-percent effort at all times. It was unfortunate we lost to Bullock Creek, but we still played a really good game.”

Harrison (9-12 overall) plays in a Division 3 district this week, beginning with an opening round game with Pinconning on Monday.
