After dropping their first two games of the season just the day before, the Harrison baseball team began Saturday with a solid win over Grayling. The Hornets topped the Vikings 11-6, behind a solid pitching performance from Logan Williams. He threw six innings and gave up six runs, two earned on nine hits, eight strikeouts and two walks.

They dropped game two however, 13-9.

The day before it was their season opener against Chippewa Hills; and they came up short in both of those, 8-0 and 10-4.

“These were good measuring stick games for us,” head coach Nick Halm said. “We saw a lot of good, but between a few timely errors and pitching command, it got away from us. The first game of the season was only 1-0 through four innings, and the boys made some great outs. The second game versus Grayling we were down 8-0 and had it tied 8-8 at one point. There is grit in this team and we are going to build off of that.”

Harrison hosted Ogemaw Heights on Tuesday, heads down to Bullock Creek today (Thursday) and will play Tuesday at Meridian.
