Harrison baseball played in two close games with visiting Manton on Friday. The Hornets weren’t able to get the upper-hand in either however, as they lost to the Rangers on scores of 1-0 and 7-2.

“I was very proud of how we pitched and played defense, we simply didn't hit,” head coach Nick Halm said. “I am calling these milestone games of the season, as we proved we can play clean, fast-paced baseball and hang tough for an entire doubleheader.”

Matt Latunski took the loss in game one, despite pitching well, going seven innings and giving up one run and striking out three batters.

Game two saw the Hornets in front 2-0 after five innings of play, but the final two frames went the way of the Rangers, leading to the close loss for Harrison.

Kegan Chaskey, Parker Latunski and Nyxon Rhodes shared time on the mound in this one, giving up a total of two earned runs on three hits and nine strikeouts.

Tom Hamilton highlighted the offense with two hits in the nightcap.

“Things are trending in the right direction,” Halm said.

Harrison hosted Bullock Creek on Monday, they were at home with Meridian on Tuesday, they head for Standish-Sterling today (Thursday) and they’ll host Gladwin on Tuesday.
