Francis Robert Poremski

          Francis “Frank” Robert Poremski age 89 of Harrison, Michigan, passed away peacefully with his wife at his side on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Schnepp Senior Care and Rehabilitation Center in St. Louis, Michigan. He was born in Chester, Pennsylvania. Frank Poremski served his country in the United States Air Force, participating in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He was awarded the Purple Heart twice and the Bronze Star with Valor over his twenty years in the Air Force. After departing the military, Frank went on to work in the defense contracting industry as an Aerospace Engineer. His design contributions to space exploration ranged the full spectrum from earth orbiting satellites through manned systems such as the space shuttle to the exploration of other planets.

          Mr. Poremski was united in marriage to Mickie Lorraine Kaufman on October 13, 2000, in Harrison, Michigan. Frank and Mickie returned to Harrison in 2016, moving from Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church in Harrison and the Harrison Moose Lodge and Family Center #2235. Frank enjoyed reading and watching football, especially Air Force and Notre Dame games. He also was very fond of cooking, baking and traveling.

          Surviving Mr. Poremski is his loving wife of twenty-five years, Mrs. Mickie L. Poremski of Harrison, Michigan, one son; Robert John Poremski and wife Kari Anne of Tipp City, Ohio, three grandchildren; Raychel Simon and husband Frank, John Poremski and husband Jorge Patino, and Quincy Swartout, one great-grandson; Damian Simon, plus many extended family and friends. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, one stepdaughter, Stacey Swartout, stepson-in-law, Marcus Swartout, and several other family members and siblings. 

          Private Celebration of Life and Military Honors services honoring Frank will be held at a later date. Mr. Poremski will be inurned in St. Athanasius Catholic Cemetery in Harrison, Michigan.
