Farwell softball splits games at Tawas Invitational

After falling to tournament host Tawas Area earlier in the day, the Farwell softball team was able to end Saturday with a victory. The Lady Eagles took down Big Rapids at the event, 5-2.

Alaina Slocum got the win, she tossed six innings in the circle and allowed two runs while giving up two runs, one earned on three hits, six strikeouts and three walks.

Farwell scored one run in the first inning, and they plated another in the second to lead 2-1. They also had two more runs in the third, taking a 4-1 advantage and they stayed ahead from there.

Karleigh Ames, Emma Barnett and Evie Bell had one hit each, with Bell and Slocum each driving in runs.

They opened the day with a 7-2 set back against a good hitting Tawas Area team.

Anna Vanbuskirk took the loss, she went five innings and gave up seven runs, three earned on 10 hits, two strikeouts and one walk.

A long two-run homer by the Braves gave them a 7-0 lead in the fourth inning, though Farwell scored two runs in a late rally.

On offense, Slocum had two hits, while Jaycee Stover and Chloe Miller had one RBI, with Miller’s coming on a single in the top of the sixth. Ella Norbury also reached twice on walks. Slocum and Vanbuskirk scored one run each.

Farwell played at home against Shepherd on Tuesday, they host Coleman today (Thursday) and they host Marion on Tuesday for their regular season finale.
