Game one was all Farwell. Game two was all Farwell. The Lady Eagles had an impressive showing at Houghton Lake on Thursday, winning both of their non-league games in impressive fashion, 14-2 and 13-2.

“I'm very proud of how the girls have started their season,” head coach Emily Lauer said. “They're playing together and communicating pretty well with each other. The weather is still working against us but we will power through and make the best of what the season has to offer.”

Alaina Slocum got the win in game one, she tossed all five innings, giving up two runs, one earned, while striking out 10 batters.

On offense, Slocum also had one double and two RIBI, Chloe Miller had one triple, two singles and she came in to score three runs and Anna Vanbuskirk had one triple, two singles and one RBI.

In the nightcap, Vanbuskirk got the win, tossing all five innings and giving up two runs and striking out seven. She also helped her own cause on offense, getting three hits, one RBI and one run.

Slocum had two singles and one RBI, Miller had two hits and she came in to score three times, and Emma Barnett had one single and two RBI.

“Proud of both my pitchers,” Lauer said. “They went out and took care of business, and both had great games. It was great to have Jacey Stover back in the lineup up and returning from an injury. Working some of the kinks out with our bats and timing up pitches. I really want this team to play with confidence but not too much to where we start making simple errors. Proud of my catchers behind the plate. Miller is doing a great job of calling the games she catches and I believe her Slocum are gonna have a great year throwing together.”

Farwell hosts St. Louis today (Thursday) and they’ll be at home with Clare on Tuesday.
