Pinconning managed to take a two-score lead before Farwell could even touch the ball Friday. The visiting Eagles could never get back into things, and lost the Jack Pine Conference Division 2 football contest, 41-8.

The Spartans scored on a 56-yard touchdown pass on their first play and took an 8-0 lead after a two-point conversion. Pinny attempted and recovered an onside kick, then capped off that drive with a five-yard pass play for a 15-0 advantage.

The Eagles did score on their first offensive possession. Brent Ellul found the endzone from 24 yards out, bring them with 15-8 after one.

In the second quarter, Pinconning booted a 32-yard field-goal to lead 18-8. Farwell returned the ensuing kickoff 65 yards, to set up a good scoring opportunity. The Eagles reached as far as the 10-yard line before turning the ball over on downs.

The Spartans cashed in before the half, scoring another touchdown to lead 24-8 at the break. Pinny booted another field-goal in the second half and scored added two more touchdowns to put the game out of reach for the Eagles.

The Eagles combined to run for 157 yards, led by Ethan Morford. Wyatt VanBuskirk led the defense by chasing down 17 tackles.

Farwell (1-4 overall, 0-3 JPC Division 2) looks to get back in the win column on Friday, when it makes the trip to Meridian (1-4, 1-2). The Mustangs opened the year with losses to Clare, Bullock Creek, Harrison and Pinconning, but got in the win column last week, by taking down Beaverton 37-16.
