The Farwell football team had a hard time slowing down visiting St. Louis on Friday. As a result, the visiting Sharks were able to hand Farwell a Jack Pine Conference Division 2 setback on a score of 31-6.

“The boys played hard and did not quit,” head coach Travis Waddell said. “I'm proud of their effort. We need to clean some things up, but the boys are playing tough football.”

The Sharks scored three touchdowns in the first half, taking a 20-0 lead. St. Louis even added a field-goal as time expired in the second quarter, making it 23-0 at the break.

After a scoreless third quarter, the Eagles picked up their only score of the night early in the fourth. Asher Yarhouse ran in from 47 yards out to bring the score within 23-6.

That was all the Eagles could get going however, and St. Louis closed out the scoring with one final touchdown in the final minutes.

Yarhouse finished the game with 89 yards rushing and one touchdown. Brent Ellul was four-of-10 passing for 77 yards and Zane Hanna had 70 yards from scrimmage. On defense, Marcus Hunzinker had nine tackles and Wyatt Van Buskirk took down eight.

Farwell (1-3 overall) looks to get back on track and will make the trip to Pinconning (3-1) on Friday for JPC Division 2 action. The Spartans have been enjoying a resurgence this fall, getting wins over Tawas Area, Flint Southwestern and last week’s 21-14 victory over Meridian.
