Farwell’s trip over to the Tawas Area baseball tournament was a successful one for the Eagles. They won both of their games, giving them the championship.

They opened with a 9-2 victor over Oscoda, then defeated host Tawas in the championship, with a score of 6-3.

In the finals against Tawas, the Eagles were able to score three runs in the bottom of the first. Tawas pulled within 4-3 through three innings, but Farwell managed two more runs in the fourth to make it the eventual 6-3 final.

Mason Esterline got the win, going five innings and he gave up three runs, two earned on four hits and nine strikeouts. Hunter Edlin pitched the final inning without giving up a run, while striking out one batter and walking one.

The Eagles got just two hits on offense but worked 12 walks to keep constant pressure on the basepaths. Walker Brown had one hit, and two RBI and Wyatt Vanbuskirk had one hit and he drove in one run. Esterline got on three times with walks, and he scored twice while earning two walks each was Edlin and Asher Yarhouse.

Farwell did have two home Jack Pine Conference games against Gladwin on Friday. The Eagles came up short in these, 9-0 and 12-5.

In another JPC match-up, the Eagles were at Standish-Sterling on Tuesday, May 13. They lost a pair of rain-soaked contests there, 10-0 and 17-0.

Farwell was at Harrison on Monday, played down at Shepherd on Tuesday and wraps up the regular season today (Thursday) in Coleman. The Eagles will open up the Division 3 post-season on Tuesday in Evart, against Reed City.
