It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dolores Kesson. She departed this earth peacefully with family by her side on January 10, 2026, at the age of 87. She is survived by her husband Cecil, her children Beth (Kevin), Mark (Betty), Paul, Christy, Lisa (Jeff), and Mike (Jenny) as well as eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Margaret, brother Bill (Carol), sister-in-law Marcy and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Doris, her brothers Jim, Bob and Tom and her daughter-in-law Annie.
Dolores and Cecil, Cecil and Dolores. It was impossible to say one name without the other. Married for 67 years, they were sweethearts from the time Cecil made his move in the eighth grade. Together, they raised six kids in a house full of love and sometimes chaos. Music was a big part of Dolores’s life, and the kids all remember cleaning the house Saturday mornings with Mom’s music playing in the background. Dolores especially loved playing piano and guitar and her lovely soprano voice was heard every weekend in the church choir. She even directed the choir for many years when she was younger. Upon a well-deserved retirement, Dolores and Cecil (Cecil and Dolores) split time between their Michigan home and Arizona home and built strong relationships in both places. They enjoyed the activities that their Arizona community provided as well as their proximity to their daughter and grandchildren and attended many social events. In Michigan, she and Cecil would often be in attendance at their son’s oldies band gigs with Cecil leading the train for The Locomotion with Dolores right behind him.
Dolores was always up for fun whether it be cards with friends or potlucks or Red Hat adventures. She loved spending time with family and made the best potato salad - celery salt was the key ingredient which she happily shared. In her later years, she became a loyal Wheel watcher and enjoyed The Price is Right. Books were also a constant companion as well as word games, puzzles and casino games. One of her favorite family activities was a trip to the casino where she would enjoy the slot machines.
Dolores’s life was filled with family, fun and faith. Her welcoming smile and warmth will be greatly missed by all. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
