Mrs. Deborah Jean “Deb” Curns passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025, in Gladwin, Michigan after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on July 2, 1952, in Flint, Michigan, to John and Ethel (Carney) Marler. She married the love of her life, Bruce Curns on October 25, 1969, in Harrison where they resided for 56 years, raising a son and a daughter along the way.

Deborah dedicated her life to her family and found fulfillment in both her professional and personal roles. For 30 years she served as the bookkeeper and secretary for her husband’s fence company. However, her greatest passion was being a homemaker and caregiver. Deborah never missed her grandchildren’s school or athletic events. If you were to look up the definition of the “greatest grandma”, her picture would be displayed next to it. You would often hear her bragging about her family and boasting how proud she was of them.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband, Bruce Curns, son John (Lacie) Curns and daughter Kayleen (Sean) Meyers, all of Harrison. Deborah was a proud grandmother to Logan (Mykaylah) Curns, Emma (Jeremy) Curns, and Andrew Meyers, all of Harrison, and a cherished great-grandmother to Madelynn, Ema, Hadley, Denver, and Blakelynn. She leaves behind a large family including her sister Jan (Lloyd) LaValle of Harrison, sisters-in-law Joyce Curns of Portland, Carol (Marv) Bedard of Falmouth, Vicky Searles of St. Johns, Rita (Dan) Duma of Harrison and Robyn Monville of St. Johns, brothers-in-law Robert Curns of Harrison and David (Sue) Curns of Ypsilanti, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins,  and friends whom she considered family.

Deborah was preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law Harland Curns, mother-in-law Nellie Curns (Bond), six brothers-in-law, and five sisters-in-law.

In keeping with Deb’s wishes, there will not be structured funeral, but a private family burial later in the spring. At this time the family would like you to join them for a celebration of life luncheon at 1 p.m. on December 6, 2025, at Mott’s Up North Wedding and Event Venue at 452 N. Clare Ave, Harrison. Please join her family in celebrating her life’s devotion to family over a blessed meal. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to John Curns or Kayleen Meyers to assist with medical expenses.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Compassus Hospice of Gladwin, Gladwin Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Julie Reid, Kelly Bond, and all the dedicated caregivers who supported Deborah.
