David Leonard Johnson, age 90, of Harrison passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, under the care of Heartland Hospice.

A Memorial Service for David will be held at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Harrison on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Vaughn Peterson officiating. Military Honors will follow at the church with a Luncheon to take place at the church. Inurnment will take place in Pleasant Plains Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church the day of the service from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service. Memorial contributions may be made to VFW Post 1075 Relief Fund, envelopes will be available at Clark-Stocking Funeral Chapel and the Church the day of the service.

David was born on September 4, 1935, in Williamston, Michigan. Son of Alexander E. and Tressa V. (Shepler) Johnson. David proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. serving as a First Sergeant. Retiring from the Marine Corps. in 1969. He was a lifelong member and very active with the VFW Post 1075 and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. David married the love of his life, Norma L. Thomas on April 10, 1959, in San Diego, CA. David and Norma attended the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Harrison. David was also a member of the NRA and had achieved several shooting awards. He enjoyed being a hard worker and volunteering at the VFW Poppy Drive.

David is survived by his wife of 67 years, Norma Johnson; children, Victoria Bradley, Lisa Thorstad, Dana (Steve) Kerr, and Laura (Duane) Hoover; eight grandchildren, Lindsey, Shaun, Amanda, Devin, Paul, Jebidiah, Thomas, and Randell; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Tamara, Dalila, Victoria, Kasey, Bridgit, Athena, Agnes, Simon, and Amelia; brothers, Kenneth Johnson and Roy Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca; parents; and sister, Ruth Johnson, granddaughter Susan and great-grandson Julian
