The second Jack Pine Conference jamboree of the season was held at Ogemaw Heights on Wednesday, Oct. 1. Shepherd was the winning team in both races, while Clare was runner-up in both races.

On the boys’ side, Shepherd won with 36 points, Clare was second with 71 and Gladwin finished third with 74. Harrison was also sixth with 190 and Farwell placed ninth with 216.

In the girls’ race, Shepherd had 42 points, narrowly ahead of Clare who had 48. Harrison and Farwell did not have enough runners to factor into the team scoring.

“We are continuing to progress and dial down where we need to be as a group,” Clare boys’ head coach Adam Burhans said. “This has been a fun group that can give a little more moving into the postseason.  We have a fast course coming up at Shepherd and we are gunning up to make another push to help reach our team goals.  We have a little breathing room with two runner-up finishes in the JPC and we want to maintain this position as the Gladwins of the world come after us.  Overall, very impressed with the boys' diligence so far on the season.”
