HARRISON – The Clare County Board of Commissioners took a moment during their Sept. 16 meeting to recognize the longtime service and dedication of Colleen Ritchie. Commissioner George Gilmore read out the special tribute, which read as follows:

“Whereas the Clare County Board of Commissioners wishes to recognize Colleen Ritchie upon her retirement after more than 33 years of dedicated service to Clare County, and

Whereas Colleen began her service to Clare County on March 19, 1993, as a temporary secretary in the Drain Commissioner’s office earning $5 per hour, and expanded her duties to include work for the Equalization Department Aug. 19, 1994; and

Whereas Colleen also provided clerical support for Emergency Services in 1997 and 1998 before returning full time to the Drain Commissioner’s office, where she continued to serve through her retirement; and

Whereas Colleen served four drain commissioners as Deputy Drain Commissioner and carried out her responsibilities with professionalism, integrity and steadfast commitment to Clare County; and

Whereas Colleen’s knowledge, loyalty and dependable service have made a lasting contribution to Clare County and to the residents she served.

Now, therefore, be it resolved that Clare County Board of Commissioners extends its sincere gratitude to Colleen Ritchie for her many years of devoted service, presents this special tribute in her honor, with admiration and best wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement.”

Ritchie, having stood humbly in front of the Board as Gilmore read the tribute, then was presented with her resolution. That was met with a round of applause from all in attendance, and numerous “good job, Colleen” comments.

The Board then moved unanimously to adopt Resolution 26-15 paying Special Tribute to Colleen Ritchie for her years of dedicated service to Clare County.
