The Clare volleyball team closed out the regular season on quite the positive note. The Lady Pioneers were hosting Standish-Sterling on Wednesday, Oct. 28, and they rolled to a straight sets Jack Pine Conference victory, 25-12, 25-13 and 25-20.
“Being senior night, the girls all played very well and worked together,” head coach Erin Murphy said. “We have made some adjustments defensively and that has had an overall impact on our success. Looking forward to districts.”
The Pioneers were led on the attack by Pamela Allen, who had 11 kills. Amelia Ryzyk ran things at setter and had 22 assists, and Cara Henintz was a force serving, delivering four aces.
Clare finished the regular season with seven conference wins. The Pioneers host a Division 2 district this week, beginning with their semi-final game with Gladwin on Wednesday. Bullock Creek and Ogemaw Heights were in the other semi-final, with the championship game scheduled for today (Thursday). This district winner advances to a regional semi-final game at Chippewa Hills on Tuesday.
