Clare track claims victories in Farwell

Clare was at Farwell for a four-team Jack Pine Conference meet on Wednesday, April 29. The Pioneers had both their boys’ and girls’ top the three other teams (Farwell, Ogemaw Heights and St. Louis), while the Farwell boys topped St. Louis and the Farwell girls defeated Ogemaw Heights.

Highlighting the Clare boys first, Jacob Halicek won the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.46 and he won the 200 with a 24.36. Conan Weeks and Judah Woods were second and third in the 200. Clayton Peacock won the 400 (55.18), followed by William Warner in third. Connor Schmidt was second in the 800 (2:16), Sutton Klaus won the 1600 (5:05) and Matthew Rodgers had a second place run in the 3200 (11:57).

Donavan Hoogerhyde won the 110 hurdles (16.11), Silas Donaldson was second in the 300 hurdles (44.54) and they also won the 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 relays.

Brendan Burton was second in the shot put (44’3.5”), followed by Kage Greenfield in third and Colin Barber in fifth. Barber was a winner in the discus, with a throw of 113’2” and James Brown was second in the discus. Tyler Thompson won the high jump (5’8”), Collin McCaslin won the pole vault (10’6”) and Greenfield won the long jump (20’6”), with Woods taking second in that event.

For the Lady Pioneers, Bella Pascaretti won the 100-meter dash (13.84), followed by Ivy Russell in second. Pascaretti added another win in the 200 (29.36), where Hannah Goethe was also third. Lauren Leis won the 400 (1:05), with Ava Robinson coming in second, Sophia Buzzelli took first in the 800 (2:34), followed by Leah Leis in second and Emma Stozel won the 1600 with a run of 6:15. Brooklyn Zemko was also second in the 3200 with a 19:52. Reagan Somers was second in the 100 hurdles (18.54) and Tayden Dunkle was a winner in the 300 hurdles (54.51). The Lady Pioneers also won all four relays.

They had Aleigha Finkbeiner place second in the shot put (28’8”) and Tangelia Finkbeiner was third, while in the discus, Sophia Stevens was second (80’10) and Molly Crawford placed third.  Brooklinn Barcia won the high jump with a 4’8”, Madison Root won the pole vault (8’0”) and in the long jump, Abby Boyd won with a bound of 16’0.5”.

For the Farwell boys, Mason Esterline was fourth in the 100 (11.88), Marcos Allen Quero was sixth in the 200, Memphis Peever was second in the 400 (55.61), Clayton Lutes was third in the 800 and Rylee Sprague took second in the 1600 (5:05). Conner Cousineau won the 3200 (11:46) and they also won the 4x800 relay.

Fabian Holtman added a third-place spot in the long jump, getting a distance of 17’9.25”.

As for the Lady Eagles, Mya Yarhouse was third in the 100 (14.24), Mia Dailey was fourth in the 200 and Paycee Gransden was fifth in the 400. Willow Hooper placed fourth in the 1600 and eighth in the 800.

Jasmine Green had a fifth-place throw in the shot put, Aubrianna Terrian took sixth in the discus and Hunter Geren was able to take fifth in the long jump.

Clare and Farwell both head for the Jack Pine Conference championship meet in Shepherd on Saturday.
