It was a solid winning effort for the Clare softball team on Tuesday, April 21. The Lady Pioneers were at Farwell in Jack Pine Conference play, winning those games, 16-0 and 15-0.

Kyley Wyman got the game one win, going all three innings in the mercy shortened game, allowing zero hits and striking out eight batters. She also helped her own cause on offense, getting two hits, four RBI and she came in to score twice.

Also at the plate, Addison Ames and Breez Yarger had two hits and two RBI each, Lena Renner had one double and three RBI, Rainn Bryant doubled and also getting one hit each was Cara Heinz and Maddison Fritz.

Renner got the pitching victory in game two, tossing four innings and giving up zero runs on five hits and seven strikeouts.

Renner and Hadley Louch both had two hits (one triple) and three RBI to lead the offense, Yarger also added two hits and with one hit each was Wyman (sole home run), Bryant, Heinz and Olivia Forsberg (one RBI).

Clare was unable to pick up a win in their road JPC games in St. Louis on Thursday, falling to the Lady Sharks, 4-2 and 6-0.

Clare led the first game 2-1 entering the bottom of the sixth, but they were unable to make that stick as St. Louis scored two runs in that frame to take the lead and they blanked the Pioneers in the top of the seventh to secure the win.

Wyman took the loss pitching, going six innings and allowing four runs, one earned on three hits, 14 strikeouts and five walks.

Wyman had a double on offense as well, Yarger had a single and an RBI and adding one single each was Pamela Allen and Forsberg.

Renner went seven innings in the game two setback, giving up six runs, four earned on 10 hits and three strikeouts.

Yarger and Heinz both tripled for the Pioneers, who also had singles by Wyman and Renner.

Clare hosted Bullock Creek on Tuesday, they host Pinconning today (Thursday) and they’ll play at home again on Tuesday, hosting Beaverton.
