The Clare golf team finally got its season underway over the weekend. The Pioneers took part in 18-hole tournaments on Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, the Pioneers were at Red Hawk Golf Club, for an event hosted by Tawas Area. Clare shot a team score of 385, putting them in 11th place out of 20 teams.
Bryce Wieferich led the team with a round of 79, tying him for second place overall. Kolten Pung and Mike Castle both shot a 96 to tie for 41st and Dominic Kamyszek and Noah Slusher had twin rounds of 114 to tie for 86th and Calvin Clark carded a 117 and was 98th overall.
On Saturday, Clare was at the Lakeview Invite, taking part at Brookside Golf Course.
The Pioneers hit a team score of 384, which put them in eighth place out of 20 teams.
Leading the way again was Wieferich, who shot an 83 to come in sixth and Castle came in with a 97 and took 32nd. Pung added a 36th place finish thanks to his score of 99, Kamyszek shot a 105 and was 54th, Slusher hit a 111 and was 69th and Clark was good for a 121 and finished 85th.
