The third Jack Pine Conference girls golf jamboree of the season was held in Shepherd on Monday, at Maple Leaf Golf Course. Weather caused havoc at the 18-hole event, but Clare prevailed through it nicely, winning with a team score of 413. Standish-Sterling was second with a 416, Pinconning was third at 491 and Shepherd was fourth with a 494.
“They battled storms and an hour rain delay to come out on top with great putting and short game by Ella Pettersch and great driving and putting by Rayna Kruskamp. Solid first couple of weeks by the girls.”
Pettersch led the Lady Pioneers with a solid round of 99 and she was third overall. Kruskamp was fourth after a round of 101 and Natalie Fischer was eighth after hitting a score of 106. Jane Krell was next for the team in ninth thanks to her tally of 107 and Jade Alexander and Tesa Schulz were both 12th on twin scores of 113.
They were also at a 9-hole Jack Pine meet on Monday, Aug. 24, at Hidden Oaks Golf Course in St. Louis. Standish won this event with a 214, Clare was second at 223, Ogemaw Heights was next with 239 and host St. Louis was fourth with a 268.
