Clare girls golf end regular season

The Clare girls golf team took part in the final Jack Pine Conference meet of the season on Tuesday, Sept. 30. The Lady Pioneers took second place at the 18-hole event, held at Firefly Golf Links, with a score of 404. Shepherd and Standish-Sterling tied for first place with identical scores of 396.

The Pioneers were led by Natalie Fischer in fifth place with a round of 96. Kaitlyn Newkirk was 10th with a 99, Jordan Green finished up 12th with a 101 and in 118th was Kally Tocco, as she shot a 108. Jane Krell came in with a 118, which put her in 29th and Mallorie Louch was 43rd with her round of 137.

Clare also took part in the Panther Classic at Alma on Monday, Sept. 29. They finished in 11th overall, with a score of 418.

Jade Alexander led them in this one, getting a score of 97 with a 21st place finish. Tocco was 48th on a round of 105, Newkirk placed 51st with a 107, Krell hit a 109 and was 56th overall and Green added a round of 110, placing her in 58th.

Clare was at a Division 3 regional meet at the Pine River Country Club in Alma on Tuesday. The state finals will be at Forest Akers West at Michigan State University on Oct. 17 and Oct. 18.
