HARRISON – The Clare County Road Commissioners elected new officials at their June 16 meeting, and also heard an update on the new building.

The commissioners elected Tom Doty for the 2026 County Road Association Self-Insurance Fund (CRASIF). They also elected Brett Laughlin, Tony Casali and John Rogers for the 2026 Michigan County Road Commission Self-Insurance Pool (MRCSIP).

Dewayne Rogers, CCRC managing director, updated the commissioners on progress for the new building. He said that on June 16 most of the top soil was down and the parking lot got paved a second time. There were a few more things such as the sewer that should be done soon and electricians that still have some more work to do.

“The office is basically done,” Rogers said. “They have to do a cleaning and a couple punch list things. I mean, we're still looking, possibly in a month or so.”

Also at the meeting commissioners were updated on various projects such as Tobacco Road having been paved and the shoulders pulled on June 12 and they have started the Dodge Lake drain project for the Drain Commission on June 15.

During the fund balance report, Donna Henke, administrative assistant and clerk, reported the road commission has a cash balance of $1,208,091.75 and payroll of $446,154.95. This leaves an end cash balance of $761,936, which gives them $2,453,277.48 after their investment.

At the end of the meeting, Henke announced the commissioners annual golf outing on Aug 13. The outing is for businesses to sponsor and have their name on a haul and is $60 to attend.
