CLARE, MI — Pere Marquette District Library is excited to welcome New York Times bestselling author Craig Johnson to Clare on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. The event will take place at the Ideal Theater, 607 N. McEwan St., Clare, Michigan.
Fans of the hit Netflix series Longmire will have a unique opportunity to meet the author whose Walt Longmire novels inspired the television series. Johnson will share stories about the iconic Wyoming sheriff, his writing, the inspiration behind his characters and the journey from the page to the screen. Whether you have been following Walt Longmire’s adventures for years or are discovering the series for the first time, this event promises an entertaining evening with one of today's most popular mystery authors.
“Craig Johnson has created characters and stories that have developed a devoted following both in his books and through the Longmire television series,” said Sheila Bissonnette, Director of Pere Marquette District Library. “We are thrilled to bring him to Clare and give local readers the opportunity to hear directly from the author and meet him in person.” Tickets for the event are $10 each and are non-refundable. Tickets may be purchased online at libraryevents.org, or in person at the library and participating sponsor locations. A QR code for online ticket purchases is also available on event promotional materials.
Following the presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase Craig Johnson’s books and have them signed by the author. Johnson is the author of the bestselling Walt Longmire mystery novels, which follow the adventures of Absaroka County Sheriff Walt Longmire. The series has earned a wide readership for its combination of mystery, humor, memorable characters and the rugged landscape of Wyoming.
