HARRISON – The Harrison VFW Auxiliary 1075 Annual Spring Tea was held April 19 for a Fascinator-Finest and Bonnet-Best crowd of 75 ladies who were ready for spring – and some delectable appetizers, pastries and desserts. And, of course, a wide assortment of teas from which to select. New this year was an interesting tea that started out green and brewed to purple with the addition of some lemon juice.
Behind the scenes, a busy, busy staff of food preparers and stylists were churning out all those delicious and beautiful goodies.
The elegant and highly courteous table service was provided by gentlemen of the post whose helpful and mindful attentiveness was truly appreciated.
Each place setting was graced with a gift cared for Texas Road House in Mount Pleasant – just a preview of what was to come. The tea also included drawings for a plethora of prizes provided by area merchants – most of which came in the form of gift cards attached to potted bulbs or other seasonal conveyances. The drawing honors were conducted by Cece Lonsway, and each successive winner drew the number for the next winner. And for all of them, local celebrity Joe Bradley hoofed the prize to each subsequent winner. And the prize recipients all expressed delight upon winning.
A special drawing was done for an elaborate stay at River Walk Place in Gladwin – another gift that was enthusiastically accepted.
A rousing bit of guitar, keyboard and vocal entertainment was offered by Cassie and James of the band On Tap. They were well-received by the crowd and equally well-appreciated.
The two-hour event whipped by as usual, and attendees no doubt are already planning what they may wear to next year’s VFW Spring Tea.
