$1,500 Donation from ‘Putt Up or Shut Up’ Golf Outing

The Thirsty Thursday Golf League, The American Legion Post 558 and Firefly Golf Links joined forces to donate $1,500 to help feed children in our community.  The donation was to the Clare Area Weekend Backpack Program. A "Putt Up or Shut Up" golf outing was held at Firefly to raise the funds.  Golfers from as far away as Las Vegas joined forces to help make sure that no child goes hungry over the weekend.  Backpacks are filled with food items and provided to children each Friday; on Monday the backpacks are returned and replenished for the next weekend. The program currently feeds over 150 children every week.  The children are selected by request and includes ages K-12.  The group functions out of a room made available at the Clare United Methodist Church.  More information may be found on the groups Facebook page, or you may call 989-400-2639.
