JAMES FRANK RISKE
1935 ~ 2009

Jim Riske lost his long battle with
MS on August 25, 2009. Jim is survived by his brother, Delbert Riske of
Harrison, MI, his son Erik Riske and grandson Paden Riske (9) of
Olympia, WA, and step-son Casey Riske of Seattle, WA.
Many will remember Jim as one of the most fun loving and giving
people they knew. He lived a life full of amazing experiences to include
serving in the army stationed in Panama, working as a pipeline foreman,
or racing his Studebaker! He had a great love for the game of baseball
and ranching. He spoke about playing ball in the military and for the
Meredith baseball team that he helped create. I have so many fond
memories of the time I spent with my dad, listening to his stories and
hanging out. Even as a young kid, I remember him having difficulty
walking with the MS but he still managed to throw that nasty
knuckleball, making me look silly trying to hit it! We also spent time
fishing at Rollaway and shooting pool/shuffleboard at Elbow Lake.
Jim spent the last 10 years living in Washington to be near Paden.
He got to watch Paden grow up and learn the great game of baseball from
his grandpa. He always had a tip or story that he would share.
Paden and I plan on coming back to the Harrison area this spring to
relive some memories and have a get-together in my father's honor. If
you knew Jim, and would like to be a part of this, please contact me by
email at erik.riske@gmail.com
or by mail to Erik Riske, 1109 Arcadia St NW, Olympia, WA 98502.
We will miss you dad.
