CORPORAL TODD MOTLEY

   Cpl. Todd Aaron Motley, Troop B, 6th Squadron, 9th Cavalry, Ft. Hood, Texas, 23 of Clare, formerly of Harrison, was killed on Friday, September 14, 2007, in Muqdadiyah, Iraq while serving his country in the United States Army. Cpl. Motley was born June 9, 1984 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the son of Berry J. and Renee V. (Gleason) Motley.
   Todd graduated from Clare Pioneer High School, Clare, Michigan in 2003. He joined the United States Army on March 21 2005. He was posthumously promoted to Corporal. His awards include: Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Combat Action Badge and Weapons Qualification Badge-Expert (Rifle). Cpl. Motley was united in marriage to the former Karen Marie Wale on March 10, 2005 in Harrison. Todd enjoyed hunting and drawing.
   Surviving is his loving wife, Karen M. Motley of Clare, two daughters: Hannah M. Motley and Kaylee A. Motley both of Clare, his mother, Renee V. Motley of Hoxie, Arkansas, two brothers: Ian and Nickolas Motley both of Hoxie, Arkansas, maternal grandmother, Marcia Dolin of Hoxie, mother and father in law: Kevin and Jennifer Wale of Lewiston, Michigan, two brothers in law: Adam Wale and wife Rita of Clare and Kevin Wale of Loomis, Michigan, one sister in law, Katie Wale of Farwell, Michigan, plus numerous friends. Cpl. Motley was preceded in death by his father and grandfather.
   Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at 1:00 p.m, at the St. Athanasius Catholic Church, 310 South Broad Street, Harrison: with Pastor Dennis Feuerstein officiating. Graveside burial services be held in the Pleasant Plains Cemetery, Harrison. Visitation was on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Stocking Funeral Home, 165 West Oak Street, Harrison, MI. Memorial contributions in memory of Cpl. Motley may be considered to: Hannah and Kaylee Motley Memorial Fund, In Care of Karen M. Motley. Memorial contributions may be given at Chemical Bank or Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison. Motley's service to his country. A procession in Cpl. Motley's honor will take place immediately following funeral services at St. Athanasius Catholic Church. The route will consist of taking Broad Street (north) to Highway 61 (east) to Business Route 27 North, through the City of Harrison. The procession will then proceed north to Cranberry Lake Road (east) to Grant Avenue. It will then proceed south on Grant Avenue where the procession will conclude at the Pleasant Plains Cemetery, in Harrison.    We are asking that recipients of the flags line the above stated procession route on the sidewalks the day of Cpl. Motley's funeral service. Please arrive of the stated route no later than 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 26th, 2007.

ROBERT "BOB" BAILEY

   Robert "Bob" Bailey of Vassar, age 60 died in a motorcycle accident Friday, September 21, 2007. Robert was born October 16, 1946 in Gladwin, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Jack and Thelma "Maxine" (Fry) Bailey. He married Janice Pearson on August 9, 1969 in Harrison, Michigan. He worked for GM V8 Engine for 31 years, retiring in 1999. He currently worked for the Tuscola County Mosquito Abatement. He was a member of the Crossroads Community of Christ Church, Vassar Eagles Aerie Post #2380, UAW Local 659 and the Harrison Moose Lodge. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, horses and spending time with his grandchildren. His family and friends will miss him dearly.
   Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 38 years Janice, his parents Jack and Maxine, 2 daughters; Stacie (Mark) Johnson of Millington, Beth (Jeff) Bedell of Millington, 1 son Josh (Meagan) Bailey of Gagetown, 5 grandchildren; Nathan and Brenden Bedell, Emily and Olivia Bailey, Julianna Johnson, sister Jackie Howey of Wisconsin, sister-in-law Ruby (Dan) Young and several nieces and nephews.
   He was preceded in death by a sister Beverly.
   Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at Martin Funeral Home Vassar Chapel at 11:00am Elders Steve and Vicki Beebe will be officiating, with burial to follow at Thetford Township Cemetery. Family were present to receive friends Monday evening from 5:00pm until 9:00pm, Tuesday from 12noon until 3:00pm and again from 5:00pm until 9:00pm, also on Wednesday from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the charity of your choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.

NANCY MAUREEN DUTCHER

   Nancy Maureen Dutcher 71 of Harrison went to be with the lord on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Nancy was born August 24, 1936 in Lansing, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. Jean and Viola (VanDyken) Jean.
   Surviving is her loving husband, Wayne L. Dutcher of Harrison, four sons: Rory Bergin and wife Sandra of Taylor, Michigan, Nicholas Bergin of Muskegon, Michigan, Daniel Bergin of Fowlerville, Michigan and Michael Bergin of Whitmore Lake, Michigan, one daughter, Maureen McRae and husband Christopher of Farmington Hills, Michigan, three step-daughters: Judy Jackson of Texas, Pam Dutcher of Lansing, Michigan and Carol, two step-sons: Keith Dutcher of Michigan and Ronald Dutcher of Texas, one sister, Roberta Townsend and husband Edward of Bath, Michigan, nine grandchildren, and her beloved dog, Misty. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents.
   Celebration of Life services were held Saturday, September 15, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. from the First Baptist Church-Harrison, with Pastor Tim Tanner officiating.
