OTTO WILLIAM SOYRING
Otto William (“Pug”)
Soyring, passed away in Bonnie Lake, Washington on September 28,
2006, losing his battle with liver cancer.
Pug was a born March 8, 1943. He spent most of his life living near
Harrison and working around the state as a pipeline welder. Pug served
two tours of duty in Vietnam in the late 60s, winning the Bronze Star
and a Purple Heart.
He leaves behind 5 children, Desire (Robert) Anderberg of Tabor,
South Dakota; Lisa Davis of Yankton, South Dakota; William (Patricia)
Soyring of Bonnie Lake, Washington; Tonya (Robert) Feather of Wilmet,
South Dakota; and Courtney Soyring of Bonnie Lake, Washington; 14
grand-children and 1 great-grandchild.
Pug is also survived by two brothers, Richard (Joanne) Soyring of
Searcy, Arkansas and Joseph (Bonnie) Soyring of Munger, Michigan; two
sisters, Therese (John) Haley and Ces Soyring both of Harrison; ten
nieces and nephews.
He will be greatly missed by his family, close cousins and friends.
Pug was preceded in death by his mother Rosa in 2005 and his father
Otto in 1961. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and
a memorial service will be held at a later date.

ARTHUR MARION DOWNS JR.
Arthur Marion Downs Jr., 58 of
Harrison, passed away October 3, 2006 at his home. Mr. Downs was born
December 4, 1947 in Monroe, Michigan, the son of Arthur Marion and Erma
Dell (Girard) Downs. Arthur served in the United States Army during the
Vietnam War.
Arthur was united in marriage to Janet M. Frahm on September 19,
1980 in Lincoln Park, Michigan. Mr. Downs was a life member of V.F.W.
Post #552 of Lincoln Park, Michigan and also a member of the Loyal Order
of Moose Lodge #2235 of Harrison. Mr. Downs enjoyed golfing, fishing and
hunting.
Surviving are his loving wife; Janet M. Downs of Harrison, two
sons; Arthur M. Downs III of Tazewell, Tennessee, Lewis Downs of
Harrison, three daughters; Jean Ann Shears and husband Chris of Coleman,
Michigan, Frances May Jasinski of Sevierville, Tennessee, Kathleen Diane
Downs of Harrison, his father; Arthur M. Downs and wife Yvonne of Barton
City, Michigan, four brothers; Oliver Downs and wife Diane of Monroe,
Michigan, Edmond J. Downs of Romulus, Michigan, John Downs and wife Judy
of New Boston, Michigan and Frederick Downs and wife Henrietta Downs of
Lincoln Park, Michigan, two sisters; Ada Pfeiffle and husband Bill of
Flat Rock, Michigan and Anne Millin and husband Dennis of Troy,
Michigan, ten grandchildren plus several nieces and nephews.
Arthur was preceded in death by his mother.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 7, 2006 at 11:00
a.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison, with Pastor Michael Schaedig
officiating. Military honors were conducted under the auspices of the
V.F.W. Post 1075 of Harrison.

LORETTA J. BROWN
Loretta J. Brown,
75 of Harrison, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2006 at Northwoods
Nursing Center, Farwell, Michigan. Loretta was born September 14, 1931
in Vernon Twp., Michigan, the daughter of Charles I. and Lida E. (Cook)
Butcher. Loretta was united in marriage to Richard S. Brown on April 28,
1950 in Sparta, Wisconsin. Mrs. Brown had resided in Harrison since
1955, coming from Saginaw, Michigan.
Mrs. Brown enjoyed reading, flower gardening, baking, cooking and
fishing.
Surviving are her loving husband; Richard S. Brown of Harrison,
three sons; Daniel Brown of Harrison, Steven Brown of Kalkaska, Michigan
and Richard Brown and wife Connie of Harrison, three daughters; Lida
Rickman and husband Michael of Lake Orion, Michigan, Mary Lowes and
husband Christopher of Kentwood, Michigan and Penny Schreiber and
husband Loren of Harrison, one brother; William Butcher of Gladwin,
Michigan, seventeen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren plus several
nieces and nephews. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her parents and
one sister; Helene Irish.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2006 at 1:00
p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison, with Pastor Jim Noggle

EDWARD WAYNE BARTON
Edward Wayne Barton
“Ed”, 77 of Harrison, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2006 at his
home. Ed was born on March 4, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of
Edwin Willem and Olga Augusta (Mielke) Barton. Ed was united in marriage
to Ina Margette McManigell on February 21, 1947 in Bowling Green, Ohio.
Mr. Barton had resided in Harrison since 1993, coming from Dryden,
Michigan.
Mr. Barton was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church of Harrison and
the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #2235 also of Harrison. In 1950 and 1953,
Ed drove car #75 to a win in both T.V. Guide Sweepstakes Stock Car
Races. Mr. Barton was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great
grandfather, always showing unconditional love to his family.
Surviving are his loving wife; Ina M. Barton of Harrison, two sons;
Donald H. Broecker and wife Karon of Dryden, Michigan and Edward W.
Barton Jr. and wife Marlene of Lupton, Michigan, two daughters; Ina
Dockham of Oxford, Michigan and Deborah Decker of Lapeer, Michigan, his
beloved Dog; Suzy of Harrison, one sister; Verna Poellet of Armada,
Michigan, ten grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren. Mr.
Barton was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter; Linda
Dianne Kennard in 1981.
Memorial services were held on Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at 11:00
a.m. from St. Luke Lutheran Church, Harrison, with Pastor Michael
Schaedig officiating. Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Barton may
