CLARA ELLEN M. RAINEY
Clara Ellen M. Rainey, 81, of
Harrison, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2009 in Jackson Michigan.
Clara Ellen was born on August 10, 1928 to William and Clara
Gottschalk in Britton, Michigan. She married Robert H. Rainey on
September 27, 1947. Clara worked for over 20 years as a clerk at the
post office in Onsted, Michigan. Clara was a member of the Faith
Lutheran Church in Harrison and she always wore a hat to Sunday church.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents, and her sisters; Edna,
Laurine and Mildred. She is survived by her husband, Robert, daughter;
Rebecca (Bill) Huhn of Jackson, son; Kevin (Nancy) Rainey of Florida,
son Eric (Toni) Rainey of Nevada, 9 grandchildren, and 4 great
grandchildren. Graveside services will be held on Friday, November 6,
2009 at 11:00am at Winterfield Cemetery in Marion, Michigan. Rev. Paul
Fetzer will be officiating. ***
JAMES EDWARD CORBIN
October 9, 1963 -November 3, 2009
James Edward Corbin, 46 of Harrison,
passed away suddenly November 3, 2009 in Comstock Park, Michigan. James
was born October 9, 1963 in Jackson, Michigan, the son of Robert E. and
Mary Lou (Brewer) Corbin. Jim had been a life resident of Harrison. Mr.
Corbin was united in marriage to Ms. Susan Witkowski on July 7, 1990 in
Harrison.
Jim enjoyed NASCAR, playing video games, working on cars, taking
naps with his dogs and being a part time comedian.
Surviving is his loving wife of nineteen years, Susan Corbin of
Harrison, one son, Joshua Corbin of Harrison, four daughters: Kathy
Corbin of Harrison, Amanda Hein of Berkley, Michigan, Michelle Hein of
Grand Rapids, Michigan and Megan “Mega Monster” Corbin of Harrison,
three brothers: Michael Hein of Harrison, Gerald Tedrow and wife Nancy
of Jackson, Michigan and Robert Corbin of Harrison, four sisters:
Kathleen Conklin of Clinton, Arkansas, Marlena Haefele and husband
Dennis of Barstow, California, Margie Bailey and husband Jeff of
Ontonagon, Michigan and Shannon Cottrell and husband Rob of Harrison,
one grandson, Chase Thomas Corbin, his two dogs: Maggie Mae and Sir
Edward, plus many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Corbin was preceded
in death by his parents, one daughter, Audrey Corbin, his stepfather,
Albert L. Hein and three brothers: Butch Hein, Walter Hein and Kenny
Corbin.
Memorial services for Mr. Corbin were held Saturday, November 7,
2009 at 1:30 p.m. from Harrison Eagles Aerie # 3541 with Marlena Haefele
officiating. Inurnment was in Pleasant Plains Cemetery, Harrison.

MARK A. REIGLE
Mark A. Reigle, 63 of St Joseph, MI
passed away Saturday, Nov.7, 2009 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in
Saint Joseph.
Mark was born Oct. 10, 1946 in Battle Creek to S. Burdette and
Clara (Stuermer) Reigle. He grew up in Michigan, spending one year in
Washington State when his father worked on a defense project. The family
lived in the stone house on Wilson Rd., Frost Twp. for 7 years. Mark
graduated from Hemlock High School in Hemlock, MI, in 1965. He graduated
from Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, earning a Bachelor of
Science degree, Master of Arts degree, and an Education Specialist
degree. Between his undergraduate and graduate education, he lived in
Bolivia for two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer. Later in life, Mark
earned a second Masters of Arts degree from Grand Valley State
University in Allendale.
He was employed at Berrien RESA in Berrien Springs since 1973,
initially as a psychologist and later as a Special Education Supervisor
of Ancillary Services and Programs. Govenor Engler appointed Mark to the
State Interagency Coordinating Council for handicapped infants and
toddlers, and Governor Granholm reappointed him.
Mark’s hobbies included photography, exercising at the South Shore
Health and Racquet Club, and tree farming. He spent many happy days
planting trees on his Wilson Rd. property. Mark was also involved with
activities at the First Church of God in St. Joseph, including Kids Zone
and working the sound system for church services. He was especially fond
of traveling with his family and spent many spring breaks with his son
Evan, exploring Florida and the eastern and western coasts of the United
States.
Mark’s quick wit and humor was enjoyed by his family, friends and
colleagues. He was a wonderful, loving husband and father, who above all
enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Carol, of 28 years, his son, Evan; two
sisters, A. Beth (Glen) of Hemlock, MI, and Cheryl (Michael) Oberlitner
of Perrinton, MI; one brother, Paul Reigle/Rick Sumner of Benson, AZ,
one stepbrother, Gary Collins of Cincinnati, OH; as well as many nieces,
nephew, cousins, and one aunt Deanna Reigle (Geron) Williamson of Lyons,
GA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, S. Burdette Reigle and
Clara Louise Reigle; and his stepmother, Dorothy Stuermer Collins Reigle.
A funeral service celebrating his life was held Nov. 10th at
First Church of God in St. Joseph, MI. Burial was in Hickory Bluff
Cemetery.

DAVETTA ANN (DAVIS) SIEJA
February 13, 1956 - November 4, 2009

Davetta Ann (Davis)
Sieja, 53 of Clinton Township, Michigan passed away Wednesday,
November 4, 2009. Davetta was born February 13, 1956 in Quincy,
Michigan, the daughter of Melvin and Allene Davis. Davetta graduated
from Harrison High School in 1975.
Surviving is her loving husband, Keith Sieja of Clinton Township,
one son, Nicholas Sieja and wife Nicole of Clinton Township, one
daughter, Shauna Sill and husband Jeremy also of Clinton Township, two
beloved granddaughters: Taryn Sieja and Isabella Sill, three sisters:
Patricia Clark and husband Bob of Harrison, Debra Bridgeford and husband
Mark of Livonia, Michigan, Teresa Eglington of Clinton Township and two
brothers: Kenneth Davis of White Cloud, Michigan and William Davis and
wife Lee of Murrieta, California, plus numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs.
Sieja was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services for Davetta were held Saturday, November 7, 2009

SHIRLEY ANNA ROBERTS
February 7, 1937 - November 2, 2009
Shirley Anna Roberts,
72 of Ithaca, Michigan, formerly of Harrison, passed away Monday,
November 2, 2009 at Gratiot Medical Center, Alma, Michigan. Shirley was
born February 7, 1937 in Woodhull Township, Michigan, the daughter of
Kenneth and Velma (Hart) Womboldt. Shirley was united in marriage to Mr.
Dean Erwin Roberts on August 25, 1956 in East Lansing, Michigan. Mr.
Roberts preceded Shirley in death on March 9, 1998.
Mrs. Roberts had resided in Ithaca since 2007, moving from Owosso,
where she had resided since 2004. Shirley was a past resident of
Harrison for over eighteen years. Mrs. Roberts was a member of DuPlain
Church of Christ, St. Johns, Michigan, Harrison Eagles Aerie
#3541-Ladies Auxiliary and Gladwin Moose Lodge #2265- Women of the
Moose. Shirley retired in 2001 from Harrison Community Schools as a
school bus driver, after many years of service.
Surviving is one daughter, Pam Kirby and husband Mike of Harrison,
two sons: Maurice Roberts and wife Patricia of Westerville, Ohio and
Dean Roberts Jr. and wife Patti of Wales Township, Michigan, seven
grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, plus numerous nieces and
nephews. Shirley also was preceded in death by her parents, one brother,
Roy Womboldt and two sisters: Maxine and Louise.
A Celebration of Life Memorial service was held Friday, November 6,
2009 at 12:00 p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison, with Pastor Tim
Tanner officiating. Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Roberts may

DONALD R. ASHCROFT
January 6, 1921 - November 12, 2009
Donald R. Ashcroft,
88 of Harrison, passed away November 12, 2009 at Central Michigan
Community Hospital, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. Donald was born January 6,
1921 in Highland Park, Michigan, the son of Jeffrey and Julia Mae
(Smith) Ashcroft. Mr. Ashcroft served in the United States Army during
World War II. Donald was united in marriage to the former Lillian M.
Bennetts on August 23, 1940 in Highland Park.
Mr. Ashcroft had resided in Harrison since 1976, moving from
Highland Park. Donald retired in 1975 as Chief of Police for Highland
Park City Police Department after twenty-eight years of service. Mr.
Ashcroft was a life member of Findlater Masonic Lodge #475 of Lincoln
Park, Michigan. Donald enjoyed his time spent hunting, fishing and
golfing.
Surviving is his loving wife of sixty nine years, Lillian M.
Ashcroft of Harrison, one son, Gary Ashcroft and wife Sheila of
Millersburg, Michigan, three grandchildren: Jodi LaQuiere and husband
Scott, Julia Anderson and husband Mike and John R. Ashcroft and wife
Amber, six great-grandchildren: Kayla, Carl, Thomas, Sydney, Pierce and
Millie, plus many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Ashcroft was preceded
in death by his parents, two brothers: Carl Ashcroft and Ronald Ashcroft
and one sister, Hildegard Moore.
In following Mr. Ashcroft’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
