PAUL HUBSCHER
November 26, 1918 - June 19, 2009
Paul Hubscher, 90, of Mt. Pleasant,
passed away on Friday, June 19, 2009, at his home.
Funeral services for Paul will be held at Clark Family Funeral
Chapel on Wednesday, June 24, at 2 p.m. with Karen Lathem Chaplin
officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. The family
will receive friends on Tuesday, June 23, from 5-8 p.m. at Clark Family
Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hospice
or Central Michigan Community Hospital. Envelopes will be available at
the funeral chapel.
Paul was born on November 26, 1918, in Blanchard, the son of George
and Esther (Anderson) Hubscher. He served during WWII in the Army Air
Corp as a Captain, flying a B-17. In 1951, he married Lois Vivian
Walmsley. She preceded him in death in 1968. In June of 1971 Paul
married Grace Brown. Paul was a second-generation partner with his
third-generation son Chuck in the operation of Hubscher & Son, Inc.,
which was started in 1930 by Paul's father. Paul was a city
commissioner, mayor of Mt. Pleasant and served on the Bank Board for
Isabella Bank & Trust and IBT Bancorp. He was a former member of the
Lions Club and actively supported the Isabella County Youth & Farm Fair
Livestock Auction. Paul, a licensed pilot since 1937, enjoyed a passion
for aviation all of his adult life.
Paul is survived by his son, Chuck (Janice) Hubscher of Mt.
Pleasant; his wife, Grace of Mt. Pleasant; step children, Sara Jane
Brayman of Gainesville, GA; Max (Jane) Brown of Canton Township, MI; and
Michael (Marty) Brown of Howell, MI; step-grandchildren, Neila and
Jeffrey Radtke of Rowayton, CT; Jessica and Dave Ferszt of MN;
great-grandchildren, Sophie, Nathalie and Ella Radtke; brothers-in-law,
Jack Harris and Howard Larson; and several nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Lois
Hubscher; sisters, Betty Harris; Juanita Wilson, Margaret Erwin and twin
Pauline Larson.
