NANCY K. JOY

   Nancy Kay Joy, 54, of Harrison, passed away at her home on Friday, May 12, 2006. She was born the daughter of Charles T. and Beatrice L. (Mitchell) Nichols on February 15, 1952 in Flint, Michigan. Nancy married Thomas R. Joy on January 31, 1990 in Harrison. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3541 Ladies Auxiliary-Harrison, Women of the Moose-Lodge 2268-Clare, American Legion Post 404-Ladies Auxiliary-Harrison. Nancy enjoyed fishing and flower gardening.
   She is survived by her loving husband, Tom, two sons; Vance (DeAnna) Swerden of East Pointe, Michigan and Clark (Chrystal) Swerden of Midland, Michigan, two daughters; Lisa Joy of Marion, Michigan and Kelly Joy of Lansing, Michigan, her step-father; Ray (Pat) Dean of Harrison, one brother; Chuck (Deb) Nichols of Hale, Michigan, three sisters; Gale Nichols of Mammoth Springs, Arkansas, Carol Fair of Harrison and Anna Davis of Harrison, four grandchildren; John, Errin, Clark and Steven Swerden and several nieces and nephews. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Beatrice.

JENNIFER HENDRICKSON
September 25, 1971 - June 4, 2006

   Jennifer Mae Hendrickson, 34, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2006 in Birch Run.
   Memorial services for Jennifer will be held on Friday, June 9, 2006 at 11 a.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. Michael Biedenbender officiating. Burial of cremains will follow in the Lincoln Township Cemetery. The family will gather with friends on Thursday, June 8, 2006 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the children. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.
   Jennifer was born on September 25, 1971 in Midland, the daughter of Gary and Nevada (Bentley) Kushmaul. She enjoyed beadwork, crafts, camping, watching birds, flowers and her children.
   Jennifer is survived by her children, Erica, Ashley and Jimmy Hendrickson; parents, Nevada (Gary) Nutter of Mt. Pleasant and Gary (Vonda) Kushmaul of Mt. Pleasant; grandparents, Florence Dawson of Harrison and Ronald and Diane Bentley of Harrison; brother, Scott Kushmaul of Jacksonville, FL and Melissa Smith of Harrison.
   Jennifer was preceded in death by her grandmother, Wilma Kushmaul; grandfather, Albert Kushmaul; uncle, Wayne Kushmaul; Aunt, Diane Harrington; aunt, Joyce Buchanan; uncle, Michael Kushmaul; uncle, Robie Bentley and cousins, Robie Bentley, Jr. and Alrow Kushmaul.

JULIA JESSE ROOT

   Julia June J. Root, 93, of Harrison, formerly of Flint, passed away suddenly Monday, May 22, 2006 at her home. Julia was born March 17, 1913 in the county of Allegheny, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Jacob and Anna (Breen) Aboken. Mrs. Root was united in marriage to Mr. Vernon Pratt in 1928 in Millington, MI. He predeceased her in 1932. Julia was then united in marriage to Dallas Root in 1943 in Flint, MI. Dallas also predeceased Julia in 1989. Mrs. Root was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and St. Mary’s Women’s Guild. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
   Surviving Julia are her two loving children; Robert and wife Elizabeth Pratt of Millington and Catherine Johnson of Harrison, two sisters; Stella Zofchak of Mt. Morris and Anna Aboken of Detroit, nine grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Julia was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; Alex Aboken, two sisters; Mary Aboken and Elizabeth Kowitz.

CLAUDE T. ALLEN

   Claude T. Allen, of Lake George passed away Janury 22, 2006 at Lakeview Lutheran Manor, Cadillac. Spring graveside services will be held at 2PM Saturday, June 3, 2006 Freeman Township Cemetery, Lake George.   Arrangements are being handled by Fosnaught-Holdship Funeral Home, Marion.

JOSEPH JAMES WATSON

   Joseph James Watson, formerly of Eagleson Rd, Gladwin County, died suddenly Saturday afternoon, May 27, 2006 at the Remus home of his niece and husband, Sandra & John Oswald, with whom he had made his home for the past six months.
   The son of Harry and Elizabeth (Milton) Watson, Jim was born on December 24, 1935 in Sage Township, Gladwin County, and had lived in that community his entire life. He was the grandson of James and Myra Watson, early homesteaders there, and Jim owned a part of the original homestead.
   Jim graduated from Hayes Agricultural High School in Harrison in 1954. He had been employed at Robinson Industries, with Austin Construction at Midland for many years, and as custodian at the D.N.R. office.
   He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Eugene. He is survived by his children, Tamara (Ron) Bain of Gladwin, and Tony Watson of Houghton Lake; four grandchildren, Anthony and Lara Watson of Houghton Lake, and Lauren and Steven Bain of Gladwin; his sister and husband, Virginia and Wendell Nash of Dennison, Ohio; sister-in-law Bessie Watson of Gladwin; nieces and nephews, Sandra Oswald, Peggy Owens, Al Watson, Laurine Lloyd, and Rick, Randy and Dennis Nash; and former wife Ruth Ann Adams.
   Services will be handled by the Hall Funeral Home, 440 E. Cedar Ave., Gladwin, Michigan 48624. Visitation will be Monday, June 5, 2006 from 3-9 P.M. at Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will take place in Highland Cemetery at Gladwin, beside his parents and grandparents.
